Ever since Sonia Noorman convinced her parents to foster, Sonia felt a calling to enter the nonprofit industry to help children suffering from abuse and neglect. Sonia’s passion became helping provide stability and care to adolescents that were experiencing a troubling home life. Today, Sonia serves as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of West Michigan Partnership for Children (WMPC). Kent County foster care providers believe our community can do a better job of taking care of its most vulnerable members—children. Together with the Kent County government, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), and other statewide public and private child welfare leaders, they researched best practices nationwide for improving the quality and consistency of services and safety, permanency, and well-being outcomes for children and families. They developed a model that encompassed those practices, and with support from the Michigan legislature and MDHHS, developed a new nonprofit organization to pilot the model.
